I have lived 3 decades, and I can proudly say I am not impressed. The world is still fucked up. There is no difference to the olden days. Either be democracy – a promise of political freedom. There is still war, poverty, glamourised slavery, institutional racism, hate, senseless killing, class privy and so many social ills that can’t be fixed. I am a South African, and being born during a transitional phase between apartheid and democracy has been a blessing and a curse. I was blessed with being able to use any public space without fear of arrest, intimidation and killing.
