Social Media & The Dense Generation

Social media and the dense generation

Ntebo Lauretta Morudu's avatarLauretta-N Opinions

Yes. We have come to a point where we find ourselves dependent on that post, that like, that tweet and that thread. We wake up to turn on our phones, not even giving thanks to the universe for breath we still have. It has become a norm, a practice, a tradition and a religion. We have given our selves to the public and forgone those privacy settings. It has been minded that we live our lives on social media, we want to document each and every thing concerning our most private lives. Our families are shared, what one wears, what they think, what one eats, how one eats, basically everything! We over-compensate, over-share and honestly we have become over-bearing. Of course, we want prompt responses, receive dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins for a bunch of likes. We get sad and depressed when anyone judges us or fail to receive those…

BLESSED & CURSED: A democratic dream.

Wow

Ntebo Lauretta Morudu's avatarLauretta-N Opinions

I have lived 3 decades, and I can proudly say I am not impressed. The world is still fucked up. There is no difference to the olden days. Either be democracy – a promise of political freedom. I was blessed with being able to use any public space without fear of arrest, intimidation and killing. I was blessed to have received education and the benefits of a feeding scheme that lasted till my high school years (yes, I was a starving child, weirdly not because where I was raised we lacked food, juts that my mother was poor woman and an outcast in the…
